WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE MAY 5th ELECTION IN NORTHERN IRELAND?

WELL, LET ME TELL YOU WHAT I THINK.

Hi, I’m Fr. Sean McManus, President of the Capitol Hill-based Irish National Caucus in Washington, DC, and Chief Judge of the World Peace Prize.

And this is our 37th —yes, 37th —social media video.

The election in Northern Ireland was a big deal—indeed, historic.

Sinn Fein became the largest Party in The North, which means that for the first time since Partition— perpetrated by the London Parliament, with the assent of the King of England—on December 23, 1920— a Unionist/Protestant Party is not the majority.

So … the artificial, racist (meaning anti-Irish) and sectarian (meaning anti-Catholic) majority that England undemocratically and corruptly created is no longer the dominant power … Michelle O’Neill of Sinn Fein is now entitled to be First Minister—and that is why the DUP Unionists are blocking the formation of the new government—because they cannot accept that a Catholic should be First Minister, as distinct from Deputy First Minister (even though there is no difference in the two positions). However, it clearly exposes the fact that the DUP Unionists/Protestants are not prepared to accept Catholics as equal.

And that, of course, is why Northern Ireland came into existence—because England knew it could continue its foothold on the island of Ireland by creating an artificial Protestant Mini-State of Six Counties in 1920 … It was always about England’s imperial and colonial power … Always.

Meanwhile, England continues its double-betrayal on amnesty and the Northern Ireland Protocol, which should surprise no one, for as General/President De Gaulle warned the world: “For England… there is no alliance that holds, no treaty that is respected, no truth that matters.”
And Ireland – under its almost 1,000 years of England’s domination since 1169 – is an enduring example of De Gaulle’s dictum.

Our “One Ireland Petition” is now signed by more than 30, 350 people. Our response to England’s betrayal is to encourage more people to sign this splendid petition: “Ireland, too, has the right to be One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”— www.change.org/IrelandOneNation
