Twentieth Video Script:  OUR SPLENDID “ONE IRELAND PETITION”

By Fr. Sean McManus.      Wednesday, February 10, 2021

Hi, I’m Fr. Sean McManus, President of the Capitol Hill-based Irish National Caucus in Washington, DC, and Chief Judge of the World Peace Prize.

And this is our twentieth social-media video on our One Ireland Petition, and on England’s undemocratic Partition of Ireland, done 100 years ago

England —and their extreme supporters in Northern Ireland—tell us that a Border poll on the re-unification of Ireland (which

The Good Friday Agreement allows) would be divisive and upsetting. Yet, at the same time, they themselves are planning to celebrate this year England’s partition of Ireland … What sense does that make?

Imagine that! Imagine that Big Lie…. That unity is divisive and that partition is unifying.

There you have it again: the hubris of a fading Empire. Thinking that they call tell the natives anything they like and that the natives have to swallow it.

President Reagan famously told Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin wall, which was the right thing to say. But Regan should have also have told Maggie Thatcher to tear down England’s Border across the face of Ireland.

The One Ireland Petition beautifully states:

“Ireland, too, has the right to be

One Nation under God,

indivisible,

with liberty and justice for all.”

How beautiful and splendid is that?

And “liberty and justice for all” means exactly that: it means  FOR ALL: for all Catholics, for all Protestants and Dissenters—for people of  all faiths and of no faith.

It means building up The Beloved Community in truth, justice,

love, and freedom, the four pillars of a peaceful and just society—and the four values of a just society grounded in solidarity, equality, mutual respect, forgiveness, and unity.

This is what our One Ireland Petition is about. Please sign this splendid Petition which is posted on Change.org —on Twitter and Facebook—and on IrishNationalCaucus.org.

Thank you for watching.

God save Ireland.
