The UDR father of IRA victims’ campaigner Willie Frazer has been named in a British military document as a loyalist killer.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) report claims Bertie Frazer was part of a bogus Border checkpoint at which two Catholics returning from a GAA match were slaughtered.

Willie Frazer last night branded the allegations as “disgraceful.”

He said he was willing to meet the families of the murdered men to reassure them that this father had played no part in the shooting.

Yesterday’s Sunday World revealed details of the document which will be made public in an upcoming court case taken by the families of loyalist victims.

The MoD report links Bertie Frazer and 25 other security force members to the UVF’s infamous Glenanne Gang, which it says was involved in more than 130 murders.

The document claims that the part-time UDR man was involved in a bogus checkpoint in south Armagh where Colm McCartney (22) and Sean Farmer (32) were taken from their car and shot dead in 1975.

Willie Frazer said: “There is no foundation to these claims. My father played no role whatsoever in the killing of these two men which was carried out by the Mid-Ulster UVF.

“I’m appalled the MoD has implicated my father who wouldn’t even carry his personal protection weapon.

“I’m relieved that my mother is not alive to hear these slurs. When my father died we received hundreds of Mass cards from Catholics.”

The IRA shot dead Bertie Frazer less than a week after the Catholic men’s murder.
