IRISH CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING

Distributed to Congress by Irish National Caucus

Raymond McCord Victims campaigner North Belfast on Unionist members of the House of Lords who voted to Remove Inquests from Legacy Bill.

July 4, 2023.

In the wake of the DUP members of the House of Lords voting against the retaining of  Inquests in the Legacy Bill, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson must expel each and every one of them.

My experience over the years of the DUP, with the exception of Jim Shannon,  has been nothing but broken promises and silence. Sir Jeffrey Donaldson signed a document along with political figures from every party in Westminster rejecting the Legacy/amnesty Bill. I have that document. Lord Rogan, Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) also voted against retaining the inquests, and Doug Beattie ( UUP Leader) must expel him.

Kate Hoey also voted against retaining the inquests and like the others should hang her head in shame along with Lord Bew.  We know unionism lacks leadership now we can see that it lacks a backbone, too. A total betrayal to victims and their families and once again by politicians who have one interest,

“THEMSELVES”!!!!

We the victims thank Dame Nuala O’Loan for continuing to listen to the victims and stand with us. Our battle against the Legacy Bill is certainly not over. Imagine a Catholic priest in Washington,  Father Sean McManus, President Irish National Caucus, has supported all victims while those Northern Ireland members in the House of Lords failed us.

The Conservatives betrayed the DUP, yet the DUP still vote alongside them. Self-serving and destruction within. Victims have more courage, fight, and determination than all those in Westminster and we will continue to show it.
