Sinn Féin’s Michelle O’Neill has reaffirmed that her party “will not compromise” on key issues in the talks aimed at restoring devolution in Northern Ireland.

Speaking in Dublin on Saturday, Mr. O’Neill insisted her party would not go back into government until its demands were met.

The DUP and Sinn Féin, the two parties whose sign-off is required to get Stormont back up and running, remain at loggerheads over a range of issues.

Sticking points include an Irish language act, the DUP’s opposition to lifting the ban on same-sex marriage, and mechanisms to deal with the legacy of the Troubles.

However, Mrs. O’Neill did say that a “relatively peaceful” marching season boded well to develop the right atmosphere for future political talks.
