Omagh Massacre

Total Condemnation

Washington, D.C., August 17, 1998 -- The Omagh massacre has been totally condemned by the Irish National Caucus, the Capitol Hill-based Irish lobby.

The President of the Irish National Caucus, Fr. Sean McManus, -- speaking from

Northern Ireland where he is visiting -- said, " The Omagh bombing was a brutally violent and viciously evil act.  No words are adequate to condemn it.

Irish-Americans totally condemn this monstrous act of savagery.  If a few misguided Irish-Americans were ever tempted to support the group responsible for the Omagh bombing, then surely they must now reject such a group.  No Irish-Americans should ever support such a despicable group.  All Irish-Americans must now, more than ever before, increase their support for the Irish peace-process, which the Omagh bombing was designed to destroy."
