CAPITOL HILL, WASHINGTON, D.C. February 9, 2003 — U.S. Senators Hillary Clinton (D.-NY) and Mary Landrieu ( D.-La.) have both become ” “Congressional Friends” of the Capitol Hill-based Irish National Caucus. ” We wish these two great women a warm ” Ceade Mile Failte”, said Father Sean Mc Manus, Caucus president.” We will list their names with great pride on our official stationery, as we have done over the years with hundreds of other members of Congress, both Republican and Democrat”. ” Senator Landrieu’s husband, Frank Snellings, was born in Ireland”, explained Father Mc Manus. ” And Hillary’s husband is a well known Fermanaghman”.( President Clinton’s mother was a Cassidy, whose people hailed fro County Fermanagh). The Irish National Caucus is neither Democrat nor Republican, but dedicated to getting both Parties to stand up for justice and peace in Ireland. The Caucus is nonviolent, with no foreign principal. It is a strong backer of the Irish peace-process and the Good Friday Agreement.
