FR. SEAN MC MANUS AND ANNA LO IN WASHINGTON LAST ST.
CAPITOL HILL. Friday, May 30, 2014 — Fr. Sean Mc Manus — President of the Capitol Hill-based Irish National Caucus — has expressed sadness at Anna Lo’s announcement that she is retiring from politics and that she may quit Northern Ireland.   The Fermanagh -born priest said: ” The only thing that could excuse First MinIster Peter Robinson’s awful anti-Muslim rant is if he were profoundly ignorant — otherwise it must be seen as a sinister and calculated attempt to appease the worst elements in Northern Ireland.”   ” I had the honor and privilege of meeting the admirable Anna Lo at the Northern Ireland Bureau St Patrick’s Day breakfast in Washington. I am deeply sorry that Robinson’s hateful outburst has caused Ms. Lo such pain and anguish, and for the fear it has spread in the Muslim community in Northern Ireland. Peter Robinson has disgraced himself and has disgraced Northern Ireland before the entire world. He has joined the lunatic and deeply un-Christian  fanatic fundamentalists in America who hate Muslims — all, blasphemously, in the name of Jesus Christ! This has probably caused the First Minister irreparable damage in Washington. He had managed to  live-down his anti-Catholic image, now he has raised the whole  question of how ingrained hatred and racism are in the extreme  fundamentalist Orange ideology — to which he is seen to be appealing.” END
