IRISH CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING
Distributed to Congress by Irish National Congress
“ Belfast Protestant victims’ campaigner, Raymond Mc Cord, Sr.,  takes his over 20-year campaign for justice for his son to a new level. He has filed a civil action in Belfast High Court against those he claims were involved in the 1997 murder of his son Raymond, Jr. The attached article by
noted journalist Richard Sullivan explains that some of those involved in the crime ‘ …  were exposed as police agents in former Police Ombudsman Nuala O’Loan’s explosive report in 2007 which revealed security force collusion in a series of murders.’
The Irish National Caucus was proud to bring my friend Raymond to the United States from May 4-May to May 14, 2009. We brought him around Congress, and secured a Congressional Hearing for his case—bringing him back to Washington for the actual Hearing on October 22, 2009, before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight, Chaired by former Congressman Bill Delahunt (D-MA). I call the McCord, Jr. case the ‘Protestant Pat Finucane case’ as a cautionary reminder that, when it suited, the British government were quite prepared to collude in the murder of Protestants.” —Fr.
